Moscow: Russian forces evacuated 89 foreigners, including nine Pakistanis, from Ukraine’s besieged city of Mariupol within the last 24 hours, international media reported on Friday.
The development comes days after Islamabad’s request to Moscow in the evacuation of stranded Pakistanis in the war zone. According to media reports no further details were available about the Pakistani nationals rescued by the invading army amid intense fighting in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian aid sent by Pakistan to Ukraine at the “request of the Ukraine government” to help the people of the war-hit country has reached Poland.
The goods sent through two special C-130 flights were handed over to the Polish government agency by the Embassy of Pakistan in Poland.
The humanitarian aid includes emergency medicine, electro-medical equipment, winter bedding, and food items.
The relief items were handed over to Ukrainian Ambassador in Islamabad by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi earlier this week.
