KARACHI: The Malir Development Authority (MDA) has been accused of corruption over misusing 80 acres of land in exchange for Rs.60 billion.
MDA and Deputy Commissioner West have accused each other over corruption. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner, Karachi West Fayyaz Alam Solangi wrote a letter to Chairman Anti-Corruption against Director MDA Sohail Ahmed in which he claimed that officer Sohail Ahmed Ilyas misused his powers. He donated 80 acre land of Gulshan-e-Maymar to the Safari Builders.
Along with Sohail Ahmed, Abdul Rashid, Khalid Yousufi of Safari Builders, and Hazrat Bakhsh are involved in the forgery. The inquiry against the accused was initiated after public complaints. Areas of DC West, block ‘Q’, ‘S’, and ‘T’ of Gulshan-e-Maymar, have also been added in the suspected list.
However, accused officer Sohail Ahmed, on the other hand, has blamed DC West Fayyaz Solangi for the forgery and demanded an inquiry from higher authorities against him.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner West mobilized against Additional Director General. It should be noted that the occupied land is located in the Gulshan-e-Maymar area and the news of occupation through forgery has been circulated by many media channels in prior months.
However, no investigative agency has taken action in this regard neither does the Sindh government ever inquire into the forgery of its officers. Although, when an officer has to be rescued from the investigation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the officers manage to skip from such a situation.
Leaders and citizens of various political, social, and religious parties have demanded immediate action from the NAB and federal agencies.
