ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan His Excellency Mr Nicolae Goia passed away on Sunday in Islamabad.
Ambassador Nicolae Goia was serving in Pakistan for last five years. He had completed his term but extended his stay in due to health reasons. He was under treatment for cancer diagnosed during his service in Pakistan.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch condoled the passing away of Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan.
In a message, the spokesperson announced with profound sorrow that Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Nicolaie Goia has passed away.
“A seasoned professional, Ambassador Goia shall be remembered for his contribution towards strengthening Pakistan-Romania relations. Our thoughts are with the family of Ambassador Goia in this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the spokesperson added.
The officials of the ministry of foreign affairs are in touch with the Romanian embassy and extended full support for the repatriation of the body to Romania.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condoled demise of ambassador of Romania to Pakistan Nicolae Goia.
In a tweet he said, “It is with great sadness that I received the news of the passing away of Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, Mr. Nicolae Goia. He will be remembered for his services for Romania as well as for his active role in strengthening Pakistan-Romania relations. May his soul rest in peace! I extend my most sincere condolences to the bereaved family.”
Ambassador Nicolae Goia was a senior Romanian diplomat who was at the last leg of his career from Pakistan. He was about to finish his diplomatic career and retire from service.
Ambassador Goia contributed a lot towards promotion of Pakistan and Romanian bilateral relations during his tenure in Pakistan a number of agreements were signed between the two countries. During his tenure, a large number of delegations visited for diplomatic and people-to-people exchanges.
