ISLAMABAD: Armed men looted gold jewellery, cash and other valuables worth Rs 30 million from a trader’s house in the federal capital today (Saturday).
According to details, the incident took place in Sector D-17, within the jurisdiction of Tarnol Police Station Islamabad. The robbers held the businessman, including his family, hostage for several hours.
The bandits looted cash, mobile phones, jewellery and other valuables worth 30 million from the house and easily fled.
When contacted, the security in-charge of Sector D-17 refused to answer in this regard. However, on-duty security officials claimed such incidents were normal.
The family members have appealed to Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Islamabad and concerned officials to take notice of the robbery and take action against the increasing robberies in the federal capital.
Earlier on August 6, the Tarnol and Ramana police stations arrested five persons of two criminal gangs involved in robberies and bike lifting cases besides recovering the stolen car, five motorbikes, snatched mobile phones, narcotic as well as weapons from their possession.
