Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has broken the record of Babar Azam and Indian player Virat Kohli for the fastest 3,000 T20I runs.
The right-hand batsman achieved the milestone in the second T20I game of the five-match series against New Zealand in Rawalpindi.
Rizwan completed the 3,000 runs in 79 innings whereas Babar and Kohli had reached the milestone in 81 innings.
A joint effort by Pakistan bowlers, followed by Mohammad Rizwan’s innings thrashed New Zealand in a one-sided manner by seven wickets with 47 balls to spare in the second T20I of the five-match series at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Chasing a meager 91-run target, Pakistan successfully chased the total in 12.1 overs after losing only three wickets.
Pakistan chasing a low total lost its first wicket when Saim Ayoub got out on the second ball of the innings after scoring a boundary off the first one.
Rizwan joined Pakistan captain Babar Azam and together they stitched a 37-run stand for the second wicket to put the home team in the driving seat.
