Marriage halls, restaurants, and cafes will remain closed from October 12 to 16 in Rawalpindi and Islamabad amid security concerns ahead of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan make up the SCO, which is one of the biggest trans-regional international organizations and a powerful economic and security bloc.
In light of security measures put in place ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which is set for October 15–16, federal government authorities stated that they decided to close them from October 12 to October 16.
Moreover, merchants and hotel owners have received notifications from the police informing them that any infractions will result in sanctions.
To guarantee the seamless running of the SCO summit, the government has already announced a three-day public holiday in the twin cities, from October 14–16.
