Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, declared that the reserved seats belong to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Addressing the ceremony, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman stated that the reserved seats were the right of PTI; there is principled politics and then there is politics of recovery. He called the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the reserved seats regrettable.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that PTI’s reserved seats were distributed unfairly, and parties with principled politics should refuse to take reserved seats.
He said that in Karachi, our mayoralty was snatched away, and even in the general elections, the seats we won were not given to us. He said he had lost his seat by a few votes but was made to win. This is a game of musical chairs for power — where are the values in it?
Earlier, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that the constitutional bench’s decision on reserved seats is regrettable and will further strengthen the hybrid system. He said this decision has placed a big question mark on the credibility of the judicial system.
