KARACHI: Renowned educationist and Vice-Chancellor of Sukkur Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Professor Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui has passed away in Karachi at the age of 76.
According to sources, Siddiqui was suffering from heart and kidney problems and was admitted to the hospital last week, where he died today.
Siddiqui obtained his Master’s degree in Education from the University of Sindh Jamshoro. His academic achievement was rewarded with a Gold Medal. He served in various top-level positions in government institutions such as Deputy Commissioner, and Home Secretary in Sindh province.
In 1987, he went to the USA and did his MBA with a major in Finance from Boston University. After returning from the USA, he affiliated with IBA for the last 16.
The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi grieved with the Sukkur Institute of Business Administration (IBA) University on the sad demise of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui.
He was a legendary educationist who took the University to new heights of excellence in the last 16 years, according to a statement. His services to academia, the Institution and to the province of Sindh will always be remembered.
“IBA Karachi’s thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and Sukkur IBA University. We sincerely hope Sukkur IBA University will carry forward his vision for change and a better tomorrow for the students of Sindh and Pakistan”, it added.
Both institutions share a cherished history; Sukkur IBA University was affiliated with IBA Karachi from the mid-1990s to 2009.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Prof. Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui.
In his condolence message, Murad Ali Shah said, “The demise of Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui is a great loss to the education sector. Syed Murad Ali Shah prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased”.
Nisar Siddiqui’s services to improve the education system will always be remembered, said the Chief Minister. “May Allah blesses the deceased with a high position Jannah, and grant patience to his family,” the CM added.
