The city’s water supply is on track to normalize following the completion of repairs on the 84-inch main pipeline located on University Road.
According to a report by Pak Observer on Sunday, a spokesperson from the Water Corporation has stated that water supply to the affected areas in Karachi will resume in full flow starting tonight.
The Water Corporation has already initiated the restoration process across 12 pumping stations in the city. Areas including Clifton, Defence, Old City, and Lyari have begun receiving water, with supply to Khudadad Colony, PECHS Society, and Liaquatabad also in progress.
The spokesperson added that the water supply to the Nazimabad and Gulshan-e-Iqbal pipelines will soon be restored, providing relief to residents who have been facing shortages in these areas. The damage to the pipeline occurred on November 29, 2024.
Earlier, the damage to the pipeline resulted in the city losing approximately 2.5 billion gallons of water, leading to a critical shortage. During this period, residents across Karachi struggled to meet their daily needs, with many areas going without water entirely.
A report by Express Tribune on Saturday suggested that after the eight-day repair work, the water supply was gradually restored. However, a new leak emerged in the same pipeline, causing water to accumulate in a trench at the site.
