The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has announced a plan to extend major support and relief to sick and closed industries across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aiming to revive industrial activity in the region.
The PESCO administration has approved the procedure for restoring the connections of industrial consumers. The facility of depositing the arrears of disconnected connections in 24 months has been approved. The electricity connection will be restored with the deposit of the first installment. The aim of the decision is to improve the recovery rate of the institution and encourage industrial consumers.
PESCO has directed all the concerned offices to send letters to the sub-division level for awareness and implementation, however, it is mandatory to get approval from the competent authority for payment of arrears in installments.
The connection will be restored as per NEPRA’s reconnection policy on payment of the first installment. Cheques will have to be deposited in advance at the time of reconnection, and an advance installment will also be mandatory.
Similarly, a markup will be imposed on electricity bill arrears, which will be determined by NEPRA and will be due with the first installment. It was also decided that after the connection is restored, the connection of any industrial unit that fails to pay the monthly bill or installment will be disconnected without any notice.
