RAWALPINDI: The residents of Rawalpindi are plagued with problems related to the supply of clean drinking water with a high number of deaths and diseases.
According to details, the concerned authorities have not replaced the filters of the filter plants for the past two years and no maintenance is being done.
As a result, most filter plants have been shut down or damaged. Due to the untimely replacement of filters, people are forced to drink polluted water. Families living in the city’s outskirts, claim to have lost several of their loved ones due to the use of substandard water.
Zaheer Ahmad Awan, Chairman Citizen Action PTI Committee, visited various Union Councils of the city including Glass Factory Chowk, Asif Colony, and Sadiqabad.
Talking to masses, Zaheer Ahmad said, “Elected representatives have failed to addresses the issues of their respected areas and are confined to the National and Provincial Assemblies and to their homes and offices.”
He further said that all filter plants in the city were only symbolic, their filters are not changed and were not cleaned and repaired. He appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab to immediately replace the filters of all the filtration plants so that clean water facilities can be available to the citizens.
