The case of the woman’s murder in the Pirwadhai police station area of Rawalpindi has taken a new turn. The victim’s second husband surrendered himself to the police last night.
According to details, the woman’s marriage documents have surfaced. The woman had married a man named Usman on July 12, who has now turned himself in to the police.
The victim’s father-in-law and Usman’s father, Muhammad Ilyas, stated that when the woman sought protection, he arranged thirty to forty thousand rupees and took both of them to court to have them married.
Muhammad Ilyas said that four days after the marriage, ten armed individuals entered their home and threatened to kill them. The victim’s family said that now the marriage had taken place and they would take the bride with them.
Muhammad Ilyas, the woman’s father-in-law, said that they handed the girl over to her family. Two days later, they learned that the girl had been murdered. To ensure that the blame does not fall on his son, he handed his son over to the police himself.
It is worth noting that incidents of honor killings have been increasing across the country. In addition to Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, women are also killed in the name of honor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Recently, a video of a woman and a man being killed in the name of honor went viral, prompting the Balochistan government to order an investigation into the incident.
