A session court in Rawalpindi has sentenced five individuals to death and life imprisonment after finding them guilty of blasphemy.
The court ruled that the convicts be given the death penalty under Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) along with a fine of Rs. 1 million each.
Additionally, they were sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 295-B and 10 years in prison under Section 295-A, along with a fine of Rs. 100,000 per convict.
Under Section 298-A, the convicts were handed three years of imprisonment and fined Rs. 100,000 each.
Furthermore, they were sentenced to seven years in prison under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), with an additional fine of Rs. 100,000 per convict.
The blasphemy case was initially registered by the Cyber Crime Wing of Rawalpindi Circle on September 15, 2023.
