KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh conducted a raised in Garden West and arrested four Lyari gangsters involved in a wide range of criminal activities.
The paramilitary conducted an intelligence-based operation along with Sindh Police in Tharu Lane area of Garden West and arrested the four suspects. They were identified as Muhammad Faisal, Shahjehan Baloch, Ejaz Ahmed and Usman Ghani.
The criminals are allegedly involved in a number of extortion cases and the illegal sale and purchase of narcotics and gutka. During initial interrogation, the suspect confessed that they worked for notorious Lyari gangster Jamil alias Changa.
The suspects collected extortion between Rs2 million to Rs2.5 million each month from Prince Avenue, Platinum Avenue, Lakhani Building and Tharu Lane along with several other areas.
The criminals used to give the collected extortion amount to Umair Baloch alias Bhaiya who was a close aide of Jameel Changa and laundered the money to Dubai. The suspects also harassed local residents if they did not pay the extortion amounts.
Police are conducting raids to arrest their accomplices. The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation. Rangers have urged citizens to inform them about the presence of criminals in their area.
