Senior journalist, writer, intellectual, poet, and renowned columnist known as the “Poet of the Ideology of Pakistan,” “Hussaini Rajput,” Rana Asar Ali Chauhan, Chief Editor of Daily Siasat, passed away at the age of 86.
According to a report, the deceased began his journalistic career in 1958 from Sargodha. Later, he moved to Lahore and launched the weekly Punjab in 1971 and the daily Siasat in Lahore, Sargodha, and Multan on July 11, 1973. He also published the Punjabi magazine Chanan.
His wife, Najma Asar Ali Chauhan, was elected as the first General Secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party Women’s Wing Punjab in 1976. His sons reside with their families in the UK, the USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai.
Asar Chauhan was a principled and bold journalist who dedicated his life to journalism. He had a close association with Majid Nizami, who bestowed upon him the title of “Poet of the Ideology of Pakistan.” He began his column-writing career with Daily Pakistan and also wrote for Daily Jang, Daily Nawa-i-Waqt, and several other newspapers. Until his last breath, he remained associated with Nawa-i-Waqt.
He was in the process of writing his autobiography, but fate did not grant him the time to complete it. The announcement of his funeral will be made later.
