Cloudy skies with scattered showers were observed in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore on Thursday, with the Meteorological Department predicting similar weather for the next 48 hours.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that a strong westerly wave is affecting most parts of Pakistan and is expected to continue over the upper regions until Saturday morning.
Due to these conditions, more intermittent rain and gusty winds, accompanied by isolated heavy falls and snowfall over the hills, are expected in the twin cities, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday evening and night.
Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this period. Rain and gusty winds are likely at scattered locations in Balochistan, while partly cloudy weather is expected in other areas of the country.
On Friday, similar weather with intermittent rain, gusty winds, and snowfall over the hills is anticipated in the twin cities and parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Heavy rain and snowfall are likely to disrupt traffic and cause road closures and slippery conditions in Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature is expected to be between 10°C and 12°C on Friday, and 11°C and 13°C on Saturday.
