The ongoing spell of showers in Karachi entered another phase in the month of June-July 2022, approximately two children passed away and got injured in Karachi while the ongoing first spell of monsoon rain along with many areas witnessing thunderstorms with unexpected winds.
Jamshed Town Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddam Husain reported a group of children was playing on a street in Mehmoodabad’s Ashraf Colony when a wall fell on those children, apparently, the structure was weakened due to immense rainfall.
SP Husain mentioned the injured were escorted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre were two of them passed away during the duration of the procedure. The departed souls were identified as Dileep Kumar and Piyush Shambo. Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed highlighted that Kumar’s autopsy exposed the cause of his death, which was caused by concrete that was on him.

It was disclosed that a third child was severely injured when a roof of a house near Gulistan-i-Jauhar’s Kamran Chowrangi collapsed.
According to the (PMD) Pakistan Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall was received by Nazimabad with 38 millimeters. It was followed by Jinnah Terminal (22mm), Airport Old Area (15mm), PAF Base Faisal (8mm), Quaidabad (6mm), University Road (5.8mm), Gulshan-i-Maymar (4.4mm), Saadi Town (2.7mm), Orangi Town (2mm), PAF Base Masroor (2mm) and Surjani Town (1.7mm).
