In the first qualifier of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, Quetta Gladiators defeated Islamabad United to qualify for the final, as reported by national media.
According to details, chasing Quetta Gladiators’ target of 210 runs, Islamabad United’s team was bowled out for 179 runs in the 20th over, resulting in a 30-run defeat.
In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and chose to bat first. Quetta’s innings was opened by Saud Shakeel and Finn Allen, but Saud was dismissed early. Finn Allen and Rilee Rossouw then added 44 runs before Rossouw returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs. Hasan Nawaz scored 6, and Finn Allen made 41 before getting out.
Thanks to aggressive innings from Dinesh Chandimal and Faheem Ashraf, Quetta scored 209 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Dinesh Chandimal remained not out with 48 runs, while Faheem Ashraf contributed significantly with 45 runs. Islamabad United’s bowlers Ben Dwarshuis and Salman Irshad took two wickets each.
In reply to Quetta Gladiators’ target of 210 runs, Islamabad United lost their first wicket in the form of Alex Hales, who got out without scoring.
Sahibzada Farhan and Van der Dussen built a partnership of 71 runs. However, Van der Dussen got out after scoring 35 runs, and Farhan returned to the pavilion with 52 runs. After that, captain Shadab Khan got caught after scoring 16 runs.
Salman Agha scored 44 runs, after which no batter could stay at the crease, and the entire Islamabad United team was bowled out for 179 runs in the final over. With this 30-run victory, Quetta Gladiators qualified for the final of the event. Usman Tariq from Quetta took three wickets, while Mohammad Amir, Wasim Jr., and Faheem Ashraf claimed two wickets each.
It is worth mentioning that in tomorrow’s eliminator match, Lahore Qalandars will face Karachi Kings, and the winner will meet Islamabad United in Qualifier 2.
