Owing to the escalating winter conditions, interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has opted to close primary schools for a week, local media reported on Wednesday.
In response to the concerning rise in pneumonia cases, the caretaker CM has chosen to prolong winter breaks for nursery, grade-I, and prep classes.
Additionally, the government is contemplating the postponement of examinations throughout the province for a month.
The interim administration, acknowledging the severe cold wave gripping Punjab, recently announced revised school timings. With temperatures plummeting below average and thick fog enveloping various regions, Punjab Chief Minister Naqvi has adjusted timings for both private and government schools.
In a recent update, CM Naqvi stated that classes would commence at 9:30 am starting from January 10, 2024.
“Due to the prevailing winter wave, schools will reopen on 10th Jan 2024. From 10th to 22nd January, schools will begin at 9:30 am,” emphasized Naqvi.
The Chief Minister also urged students to bundle up with jackets and warm clothing, recognizing the tightening grip of winter.
