A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly opposing the styling of beards, seeking a ban on the practice of styling beards.
The resolution was introduced by Rukhsana Kausar, a member of the Punjab Assembly from the Pakistan Muslim League (N).
The text of the resolution states that the beard is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), and styling or designing the beard in any form is a grave sin. It further claims that beard styling constitutes disrespect toward this sacred Sunnah.
Rukhsana Kausar’s resolution adds that individuals who style their beards are mocking a revered Sunnah and committing a sinful act.
It calls on the federal government to enact legislation and take strict action against both those who seek to have their beards styled and the barbers who perform such styling.
