LAHORE: The Punjab government decided on Wednesday to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the assassination attempt on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairperson minister Imran Khan.
A meeting of the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held under the chairmanship of Raja Basharat, through a video link from Rawalpindi, and was attended by Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, Punjab Cheif Secretary Abdullah Sunbul, and other officials.
The meeting decided that the JIT would be headed by Additional IG Highways Patrol Riaz Nazir and would include representatives of the relevant agencies.
The committee also decided to provide special security to Imran Khan during the long march, and strict security arrangements have been made for the container.
Chairman Committee Raja Basharat said that the police and district administration should keep in touch with the local PTI leadership, adding that bullet-proof rostrum and glass would be installed on the container. He directed that deployment of snipers and other security arrangements should not be neglected.
The meeting also decided to talk to PTI to open the motorways soon and give way to the judges.
