LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has ordered to take strict action against sub-standard cosmetic manufacturers and sellers of the province.
According to sources, Usman Buzdar has approved Drug Amendment Bill 2020. He said that in the past, concerned departments failed to take any strict action and fraudsters continued looting masses.
The chief minister assured that “Government is taking practical measures against this counterfeiting mafia. Availability of original and branded products will also be ensured”, he added. CM Buzdar said that bill will help in producing cosmetics according to the international level.
Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) responsible for checking the quality of the cosmetics products, in the month of December 2019, had issued notices to beauty cream and cosmetics manufacturers over serious health concerns and has termed a major health hazard.
He said the cabinet had approved the act to ensure the production of cosmetics according to international standards. He added that following the approval of the amendment act strict action would be taken against such companies.
He said the purpose of licensing of cosmetics sale points was to ensure the provision of genuine products through the original supply chain. CM Buzdar said drug regulatory authority will take action against companies making substandard fairness creams.
