LAHORE: The Punjab government has inaugurated the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) – a China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, in Lahore on Sunday.
The Orange Line project comprises 26 stations and tracks spanning over 27.12km. Besides providing people with a world-class transport system, the project intends to lessen traffic on Multan Road.
Automatic machines have been placed at the stations to check and recharge card balance. Ticket boxes have also been made for those who do not possess cards.
The Orange Line train will run from 07:30 AM to 08:30 PM and its fare has been fixed at Rs 40. People have expressed happiness over the completion of the project and said they will enjoy a comfortable journey on the OMLT.
It will pass through the congested areas of the city where more than 250,000 passengers will travel on a daily basis through this facility.
The Orange line project is a rapid transit system under construction in Punjab’s capital Lahore. The line will span 27.1 km (16.8 mi) with 25.4 km (15.8 mi) elevated and 1.72 km (1.1 mi) underground.
The line will be served by 26 stations and is expected to handle 250,000 passengers daily, traveling via trains.
Though it is frequently mentioned as a part of the wider China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Orange line is being financed by the Government of Punjab.
