LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly deputy speaker has summoned the season of the house today evening to elect the new Punjab chief minister.
According to details, a session of the Punjab Assembly was convened on April 16 earlier, however, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Mazari has convened the meeting of the House at 7.30 pm today. The Assembly Secretariat issued the notification.
The contest will be between PML-N candidate Hamza Shahbaz and PML-Q and PTI joint candidate Pervez Elahi for the CM ship.
Hamza Shahbaz has instructed the members not to leave Lahore for the purpose of ensuring their participation in the voting.

The election of a new Chief Minister will be carried out in the Punjab Assembly under Article 130 of the Constitution. Hamza Shahbaz has stopped N-League and coalition members from leaving the city. Pervez Elahi has also entered the fray to become the Chief Minister.
It should be noted that members of all political parties including PML-Q, PTI and PML-N will vote for the Chief Minister in the Punjab Assembly. Under the constitution, the election of the Chief Minister is carried out on the principle of simple majority.
