Due to the intense heatwave, the Punjab government has decided to change school timings and announce early summer vacations, as reported by national media.
According to details, Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that summer vacations in all public and private schools across the province will begin earlier than the previously scheduled date.
This decision has been made in view of the current severe heatwave and the associated health risks to children. Initially, the vacations were to begin from June 1, but now they will start from May 28.
To better protect students from the heat in the days leading up to the start of the holidays, school timings have also been changed immediately. According to the Education Minister, schools will remain open from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM until May 27.
Rana Sikandar Hayat made the official announcement via a social media message, confirming the new vacation dates and the revised timings. This step has been taken to safeguard students’ health amidst the unusually high temperatures in the province and to help prevent heat-related illnesses.
