KARACHI: Protest, staged by PTI Karachi, against the K-Electric’s unannounced load-shedding and overbilling continued for the second day outside the power supplier’s office.
On the occasion, Opposition leader Sindh Firdous Shamim Naqvi said, “K-Electric has turned into Killer-Electric, we have issued a charge sheet against the institution.”
Shamim Naqvi demanded that the Chief Justice of Pakistan should take a Suo moto notice against the K-Electric according to article 184 of the constitution.
“K-Electric must take responsibility for endangering the lives of the city due to electric poles and current incidents. We will not end the sit-in until a written positive response”, he added.
PTI central leader and Parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Shaikh said that K-Electric had looted billions of hard-earned money of the people of Karachi.
“K-Electric is responsible for the causalities occurring from the heatwave. Sindh government even failed to provide water to the people of Karachi,” he added. He also announced that the next stage of protests will take place outside the regional offices of K-Electric.
PTI Karachi President Khurram Sher Zaman also termed K-Electric as Killer Electric and said that the citizens were suffering from this menace. “More electric companies must be brought in the market and choice must be given to the people,” he demanded.
People of Karachi are facing unannounced and prolonged power outages in the scorching weather. The citizens’ wrath, along with the issue of overbilling, has even caught the Centre’s attention.
