ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on Tuesday filed a reference against former President and PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari seeking his disqualification for acquiring Toshakhana items by violating relevant laws.
Talking to media after filing the reference in the National Assembly, PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari said former Prime Minister Yusaf Raza Gilani relaxed relevant rules to facilitate the acquisition of vehicles illegally from Toshakhana.

He said Asif Ali Zardari wanted to acquire 3 vehicles from Toshakhana, and permission to this effect was granted by Ex-PM Gilani in February 2009.
He said the reference against Asif Ali Zardari was prepared after many consultations with lawyers and by going through all the necessary pieces of evidence and contents.
Speaking on this occasion, PTI leader Iftikhar Durrani declared Imran Khan as the biggest charity of Pakistan, adding that he [Imran Khan] never violated any law, and did everything according to relevant laws.
It may be recalled here that in September 2020, an accountability court had already indicted Ex-President Asif Ali Zardari along with Ex-PM Yusaf Raza Gilani in Toshakhana reference.
He had been accused by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of illegally retaining expensive vehicles gifted by various foreign states and dignitaries instead of depositing them in the Toshakhana.
Asif Zardari, however, moved to a plea seeking his acquittal in the same reference.
