KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi President Khurram Sher Zaman has demanded to stop the upcoming rallies and protests by the opposition due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic.
The PTI leader has submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly which states that the political gathering of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) scheduled for 18th October in Karachi should be stopped due to the rising number of cases and threat posed to the residents of the city.
Zaman submitted a resolution to the Secretary Sindh Assembly against the PPP’s political gathering in his personal capacity. PTI MPA Dr Seema Zia, Umar Amari and Shehzad Qureshi were also present while submitting the resolution.
Addressing media after submitting the resolution, he said that wedding halls and low-cost markets are being sealed due to SOP violation to prevent the spread of the COVID-19, while on the other hand permission was being granted due to hold protests and rallies.
He strongly criticised the provincial government and said there was a sharp contrast in the sayings and actions of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. He said the chief minister should clarify if coronavirus was rising in the city.
He said the Maryam Nawaz and other Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders along with Maulana Fazlur Rehman were creating chaos and anarchy in the country.
