ISLAMABAD: Senator Azam Khan Swati of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has been arrested at the funeral of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.
The funeral prayer of the senior journalist was performed today in Islamabad, in which a large number of journalists and people participated. The funeral prayer was performed at Faisal Mosque. Where strict security arrangements were made while leaders of various political parties also participated in the funeral prayers.
The body of the senior journalist was taken home from the hospital this morning where a large number of people greeted him by showering flowers while sending him off with the national flag and national anthem of Pakistan at one o’clock.
Arshad Sharif’s dead body reached Pakistan at 1 pm on Tuesday. Yesterday, an 8-member medical board was constituted for Arshad Sharif’s post-mortem at Pims Hospital Islamabad.
On the request of the family of the slain journalist Arshad Sharif, two doctors were included in the post-mortem. The post-mortem included an X-ray and CT scan of the dead body. The forensic report takes a few days.
On Sunday night, Kenyan police shot Arshad Sharif in the head on the Magadi highway in Nairobi, Kenya, as a result of which the senior journalist was martyred. The cause of the accident is attributed to a mistake in identification.
Journalists and analysts from all over the world, including Kenyan media, raised big questions about Arshad Sharif’s murder and questioned why there was no firing on the police from Arshad Sharif’s car and then why did the police decide to shoot directly.
