Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is standing shoulder to shoulder with India. He emphasized that PTI leaders still refuse to condemn acts of terrorism.
Speaking in an interview with Geo News in London, in a sharp critique, Khawaja Asif stated that PTI’s leadership, both inside and outside the parliament, is compromised, with those sitting in the front rows of the National Assembly and Senate being nothing but “two-faced.”
Federal Minister Khawaja Asif accused PTI of compromising its integrity. He claimed that with the 26th amendment, PTI members were caught taking money, revealing their lack of loyalty to the nation. He questioned how people who are not committed to their own country could possibly be loyal to others. He pointed out that Imran Khan himself had spent his life engaging in dishonest activities.
Khawaja Asif also criticized Imran Khan’s repeated claims of wanting to speak with his “handler,” labeling it as highly suspicious behavior. He asked how anyone could trust a person who openly admits to wanting to form alliances with questionable figures. According to Asif, this was a clear indication of dishonesty.
When asked about the possibility of Imran Khan’s release, the Defense Minister refused to make any predictions. He pointed to international examples, such as those in the UK, where individuals committing crimes were swiftly dealt with in accordance with the law. Asif also mentioned that even a 12-year-old child had been sentenced to prison in the UK. He compared this to the events of May 9 in Pakistan, where attacks on important installations seemed to mirror tactics typically associated with India.
Khawaja Asif concluded by criticizing PTI for aligning itself with India, stating that the party has not condemned any terrorist activities. He also suggested that the forces surrounding Imran Khan, including his advisors and Bushra Bibi, represent two different powers, making it difficult for them to work together effectively.
