Awami National Party (ANP) central president Senator Aimal Wali Khan on Wednesday was embroiled in a heated argument with Chairman PTA Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, who accused Aimal Wali of smoking hashish in the Senate Committee on Underdeveloped Areas.
During the meeting, things escalated when the Chairman PTA allegedly mocked Aimal Wali Khan and said, “You look like you came after smoking hashish!”
The Chairman PTA said during the conversation, “Give me a hashish cigarette too.” Hearing this, Aimal Wali Khan became furious and grabbed the Chairman PTA and said, “What’s wrong with you? How can a government employee say that I came after smoking hashish?”
Aimal Wali said that this style of a government official is completely unacceptable. “Who gave you the courage to talk like this?” To which the PTA Chairman admitted, “I made a mistake.”
The PTA Chairman kept apologizing to Aimal Wali repeatedly. Aimal Wali demanded action against the PTA Chairman from the committee, saying, “Either the PTA Chairman will remain in the meeting, or I will.”
Following this, the PTA Chairman had to leave the meeting of the Standing Committee.
The Standing Committee Chairman said that he condemns the PTA Chairman’s behavior. Agha Shahzeb Durrani said that the PTA Chairman has insulted not only the senator but also the committee.
