The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and mobile producers announced giving away 2,000 locally assembled complimentary smartphones to female SIM owners in Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The announcement was made according to the PTA‘s celebration since it reached 200 million telecom subscribers countrywide.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is pleased to announce a milestone achievement of 200 million-plus telecom subscribers across the country. Having 150 million broadband and more than 2 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) subscribers, this success represents Pakistan‘s fast-paced digital development and PTA‘s role in promoting connectivity for all,” a PTA press release stated.
In celebration of Pakistan crossing the 200 million telecom subscriber mark, mobile manufacturers have donated 2,000 locally made smartphones to be allotted among women SIM owners via computerized balloting in Pakistan, AJK, and GB.”
The PTA stated that it continues to remain committed to linking Pakistan and digitally empowering the country.
While the PTA, along with PTCL and private entities, has announced the deployment of free Wi-Fi hotspots for six months at HEC-recognized selected universities, including women’s universities, to empower students with enhanced access to digital resources
The PTA has also declared 2 GBs of free data and 200 on-net minutes for all mobile users in Pakistan to mark the achievement of reaching 200 million telecom subscribers.
