The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will remain closed on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a public holiday commemorating the country’s historic nuclear tests of 1998.
In an official notice issued on Monday, the PSX informed all concerned stakeholders that the closure was in line with the public holiday declared by the Government of Pakistan.
“All concerned are hereby informed that Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited will remain closed on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, being a public holiday declared by the Government of Pakistan on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer,” the notice read.
Youm-e-Takbeer is observed annually to mark the successful nuclear tests carried out by Pakistan on May 28, 1998, in the Chaghi hills of Balochistan.
The tests not only established Pakistan as the world’s seventh nuclear-armed state but also the first Muslim-majority country to acquire nuclear capability, aimed at maintaining strategic deterrence in the region.
