The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season, as the Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars prepare to battle for the championship title.
The highly anticipated final will take place on Sunday, May 25, at Lahore’s historic Gaddafi Stadium.
This marks a significant comeback for the Quetta Gladiators, who return to the PSL final after a six-year absence. Their last appearance in the final was in 2019, when they lifted their first and only PSL trophy. Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars, champions in 2023, are aiming to reclaim the crown and add another title to their record.
Lahore booked their place in the final with a commanding 96-run victory over Islamabad United in the third playoff on Friday. Setting a formidable target of 202 runs, the Qalandars’ innings was anchored by Kusal Perera, who smashed 61 runs off 35 balls, and opener Muhammad Naeem, who contributed a half-century.
In response, Islamabad United crumbled under pressure, bowled out for just 107 runs in 15.1 overs. Lahore’s bowlers dominated the innings, with skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, Salman Mirza, and Rishad Hossain each claiming three wickets, effectively dismantling United’s batting lineup and preventing any significant partnerships from forming.
Quetta Gladiators punched their ticket to the final by defeating the defending champions Islamabad United by 30 runs in the first playoff. All-rounder Faheem Ashraf delivered a match-winning performance, playing a crucial role in securing Quetta’s place in the final.
With both teams hungry for glory, Sunday’s clash promises to be a high-octane encounter, as the PSL 2025 journey reaches its electrifying climax.
