In Amazon’s action comedy Heads of State, the President of the United States (John Cena) and the British Prime Minister (Idris Elba) team up to take out a terrorist threat on their own. It sounds preposterous, doesn’t it?
Yes, it does—but Heads of State, an old-school mismatched-buddy movie with seemingly no ambition other than just to be a thoroughly entertaining experience, turns out to be far more enjoyable than it appears on paper.
Directed by Ilya Naishuller with a screenplay by Josh Appelbaum, Harrison Query, and Andre Nemec, the movie features an ensemble cast including John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Plot
Action movie star Will Derringer (John Cena) is the new President of the United States. When he meets commando-turned-Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba), the two have a heated exchange in front of the world’s media. As a damage control measure, both decided to take a joint ride the US to Europe on Air Force One.

However, a Russian arms dealer (Paddy Considine) hijacks the plane, trapping the two world leaders in central Europe. Now it’s up to them to find safety, their wits, and the protection of MI6 agent Noel Bassett (Priyanka Chopra) to foil the terrorists’ plot.
Is it worth the watch?
If you are in a mood for overplayed action, kind of stupid fun but done with enough panache, you might want to go for this one on a casual weekend.
