The Punjab Education Department has firmly prohibited private schools from charging tuition fees for the months of March and April from matriculation students, in response to reports of unauthorized fees being collected.
Khalid Nazir Wattu, the Secretary of Schools Education, has communicated directives to all district education authorities, cautioning schools against soliciting advance payments.
He emphasized that it is unacceptable to request fees for March and April, and warned that strict measures will be implemented against any institutions that disregard these orders.
Despite these directives, there are reports that some private schools have withheld roll number slips from students who have not settled their fees.
The education secretary has assured that these complaints are under review, and appropriate actions will be taken to ensure adherence to the regulations.
With matriculation examinations scheduled to begin on March 3, the Punjab Education Department is committed to alleviating any financial strain on students and their families. Schools found to be in violation of the fee collection policy will face disciplinary consequences.
