KARACHI: The prices of medicines have been increased by 100 percent affecting the hardships of Pakistani citizens.
In August, there were 164 upgrades in the multi-market while the old rate of antibiotic medicine is 142 and now the new rate is 241. The old rate of calcium injection has been upgraded to 350 and the new rate has been upgraded to 600, the old rate of diajak medicine has been upgraded to 750 and the new rate has been upgraded to 1500.
The old rate of suboxide medicine was Rs.150 while the new rate was Rs.250, the old rate of meropenem medicine was Rs.2100 while the new rate was Rs.2900. According to the Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association, the prices of medicines have skyrocketed in the last year and have affected the business of people involved in the pharmaceutical business. Ordinary people can no longer afford to buy, and unreasonable taxes by the government have also affected the prices of medicines.
