ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the death of PAF Wing Commander Noman Akram.
The President and the Prime Minister in their separate condolence messages prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
Pakistan Air Force Wing Commander Noman Akram was martyred when his F-16 fighter jet crashed near Shakarparian in Islamabad during rehearsal for the 23rd March Parade on Wednesday.
Sources said a PAF aircraft was on a rehearsal for the ceremony of March 23 when it crash-landed near Shakarparian, Islamabad on Wednesday. As a result, Wing Commander Noman Akram embraced martyrdom.
The plane crashed on the premises of the Chand Taara forestry area. The security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a rescue operation.
The PAF sources said the plane was carrying out routine exercises for the March 23 parade when it worn-out. A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to establish the actual cause of the accident.
