ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has paid homage to the philosopher-poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Dr. Arif Alvi said that Allama Iqbal dreamed of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent. He was a thinker and he taught unity to Muslims through his writings and poetry, the president added.

The president said that following the philosophy of the poet of the East on self can take us to new heights of development. The 143rd birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the sage of the nation and poet of the East, is being celebrated with enthusiasm today.
On Allama Iqbal’s birthday, a grand ceremony was held to change the guards at Mazar-e-Iqbal. Pakistan Navy Station Commander Commodore Nematullah Khan attended the function as the chief guest.

Pakistan Navy Station Commander Commodore Nematullah visited Mazar-e-Iqbal and laid flowers. A well-armed contingent of the Pakistan Navy took over the duties of the guards. Earlier, this responsibility was with Pakistan Rangers.
