KARACHI: In response to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) march, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has announced to take out a public rally on Sunday (today) in Karachi.
Addressing a press conference, Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani, said that the rally will start from Ayesha Manzil, Azizabad at 2:00 pm on Sunday. Ghani claimed that PPP’s rally will be a success and thousands of people will participate in the march.
MQM-P has always fumed linguistic politics, whereas PPP does not believe in this theory, he added. The citizens in Karachi have rejected the politics of MQM-P and the PPP’s rally will prove that the masses are with them, Ghani said.
Ghani said that his party considered people of all languages and nationalities living in Sindh as Sindhi. “No matter which part of the country they belong to, if they are settled in the province, they are Sindhi,” the minister said.
In response, MQM-P’s senior leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan said that the PPP’s decision to hold the rally on Sunday showed that the MQM-P’s successful march had panicked the provincial government.
He claimed that the PPP would bring government employees and party workers from interior Sindh in its rally.
Earlier, the MQM-P, in its march for Karachi rights, had demanded yet again for a new province carved out of the present Sindh province.
On September 25, MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while addressing the ‘Karachi Rights’ march, had said that their love for Pakistan should not be considered as their weakness.
Siddiqui had said that the creation of a new province was in the offing no matter what opposition they faced in its way.
