KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Pir Noor Muhammad Jeelani has passed away due to coronavirus.
As per details, the MNA was admitted to Karachi’s private hospital, where was pronounced dead by the hospital administration due to coronavirus-related complications.
Jeelani was born on 15th September 1951. A senior politician, he was elected as MNA from Sindh’s constituency of NA-221-Chachro in Tharparkar in the 2018 general elections.
Earlier, senior journalist Tariq Mahmood Malik with a private TV channel in Rawalpindi had died of the coronavirus. He had been undergoing treatment at the Holy Family Hospital for several days due to ill health.
The coronavirus has killed several political and social figures this year, including Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser Ejaz Shirazi, and Nawaz Sharif convict Judge Arshad Malik. Gilgit-Baltistan Agriculture Minister and senior PML-N leader Haji Janbaz Khan also died due to coronavirus.

Coronavirus has killed 111 people in Pakistan while another 2,256 people have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus. According to the National Command and Operations Center, the total number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has reached 9,668 while the total number of infected people has reached 465,070.
In Pakistan, 417,134 coronavirus patients have recovered and 38,268 are undergoing treatment. The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus was in Punjab where 3,783 people lost their lives while 3,419 in Sindh, 1,577 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 398 in Islamabad, 99 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 181 in Balochistan and 211 people have lost their lives in Azad Kashmir.
