Pakistan Poultry Association said that the clearance was stopped on October 20. Exported soybeans and canola across the country have been stopped from clearance by the Food Department, which is expected to affect more than 600,000 tons of soybeans and canola worth $450 million.
The Poultry Association said that soybean and canola have been used in most countries of the world, including Pakistan, for the past 20 years. “We appeal to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif to intervene in the matter immediately. Soybean and canola vessels should be cleared immediately,” the association said.
The association said that if the soybean and canola at our ports are not cleared immediately, the trillions of investments made in the poultry industry, which does an annual business of 1200 billion and more than 15 lakh, will be lost. People will become unemployed, the association maintained.
