DADU: A poor camel-cart driver was harshly beaten up by a plain-clothes police officer allegedly for not giving way to them at the Kachehri Road in Dadu, it emerged on Sunday.
In a viral video of the incident that surfaced over the weekend, several people expressed anger and demanded authorities to take strict action against police officers involved in the incident.
The plainclothes official identified as Akbar Panhwar was travelling in a private car with his bodyguards when the incident with the labourer occurred.
As Panhwar’s car came across the camel cart, which allegedly didn’t give him the way to pass by, the cop and his guards started torturing the poor labourer, the video appears to show. Panhwar is currently posted as the station house officer (SHO) at Dadu’s Qasbo police station.
The family of the poor man and other local people appealed to the IGP Sindh and AIGP, Hyderabad region to provide them justice and take action against the SHO.
Earlier, the Hyderabad DIG suspended SHO Panhwar and 10 members of his team for taking ruthless action against Mallah tribesmen.

In a similar incident, the residents of village Manjhi Qambrani of Johi taluka, had alleged a team of Johi taluka police led by SHO, inspector Akbar Panhwar, tortured women and arrested an innocent villager, Arab Qambrani, during a raid at the house of Nazeer Ahmed Qambrani.
Locals alleged SHO Panhwar was torturing woman at the police station and demanding a bribe of thousands of rupees for his release.
