KARACHI: Police have traced a market established in the Liaquatabad area of Karachi for selling snatched mobile phones.
Sources revealed that snatched phones are being sold in Liaquatabad Number 10. The development was confirmed by two habitual street criminals, who were arrested by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Karachi Police.
They were arrested by the SIU from PIB Colony, and illegal weapons and other valuables were recovered from their possession, sources said. They have been arrested previously for involvement in other crimes, sources added.
Meanwhile, police in an operation arrested a two-member gang wanted in several street crime cases. According to details, police said that the two wanted robbers were arrested during an operation in Pirano Goth. Illegal weapons, ammunition and a motorcycle were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.
Police said that the motorcycle recovered from the accused was stolen from Awami Colony police station. During the preliminary investigation, the accused revealed to commit dozens of crimes in different parts of the city.
On the other hand, a gang of armed dacoits looted citizens in the Mehran Town area of the metropolis. Sources said the gang looted people at the behest of modern weapons, including sub-machine guns (SMGs).
At night, the gang stops public vehicles on the roads of the Mehran Town area, loots citizens and easily escapes, sources said. In the CCTV video of the incident received by MM News, it can be seen that five masked criminals easily looted a citizen in the vehicle at gunpoint and easily escaped.
SHO Korangi Industrial Area Khushnood Javed said that action was being taken to arrest the accused with the help of CCTV video and police would soon be able to arrest the accused.
