KARACHI: Police have ruled out any foul play or sabotage in the case of an explosion in a factory in the New Karachi industrial area.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Ghulam Murtaza Tabassum said the investigations in the blast could not support the owner’s allegations of premeditated attack.
He said the forensic reports of the incident have been received suggesting a gas leakage as the reason behind the blast and could not find any evidence of explosive material. Inspector Ali Haider collected evidence from the site of the incident and sent it to a laboratory.
SSP Central said the ice factory owner earlier claimed mal-intent and threats behind the blast. However, an investigation has shown that the allegations were unsubstantiated.
It was reported that law enforcement agencies not reach any break in the explosion case and were investigating the possibility of foul play on the requests by the factory owner who claimed he received threats.
A day earlier the police said forensic reports of evidence collected from the blast site have not yet been produced by the laboratory while findings on the samples sent to the University of Karachi have not been received.
Police said the investigation team has made frequent visits to the blast site and has taken all aspects into consideration while there has been no fault detected with factory machines so far.
It said the Bomb Disposable Squad was also part of the investigation. Police that the factory was divided into three major departments while two-thirds comprised cold storage and the rest was an ice factory.
