ISLAMABAD: Four police personnel of Islamabad’s Ramna police station, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, abused and thrashed three persons.
According to details, the three persons were taken to the police station on the charge of vagrancy and also seized the money recovered from their possession.
The victims have filed an application to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Islamabad against the four police officials involved in the incident.
One of the victims Intizar Hussain informed that he, along with his cousins, was returning home on a motorbike after attending a religious gathering. Meanwhile, four police officials, without uniform, stopped them for checking.
“As soon as we stopped, the four officials started abusing and beating us. Later, they took us to Ramna police station,” he said. The victim further said that the four officials again thrashed them in the police station.
He also informed that later they were remanded in custody on charges of vagrancy. “Next day, the local magistrate released us on bail,” he added.
The victims claimed that the police also extorted Rs. 8,500 from them. At the request of the affected youths, the SP office has started an inquiry into the incident.
