Six dacoits were killed during police encounters in Pannu Aqil and Faisalabad, the media reported on Monday.
According to details, four dacoits tried to commit robbery in a village in Pannu Aqil last night, but after retaliation from the villagers, they opened fire, after which two villagers lost their lives, and one was seriously injured.
The dead men were later identified as Ahmad Ali and Nisar Mohammad, while Hafeez Mehar received serious bullet wounds.
Soon after the incident, the dacoits escaped from the scene and hid themselves in a nearby sugarcane field late last night.
After receiving the report, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukkur Azhar Khan Mughal, with a heavy police contingent, rushed to the spot and launched an operation against the dacoits. During heavy exchange of firing, the four dacoits were killed.
Meanwhile, two notorious dacoits lost their lives, and their three companions escaped during a police encounter in Faisalabad.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Thikriwala police station in Faisalabad.
According to the details, a Crime Control Department (CCD) team signaled five people riding a motorcycle to stop at a check post near Malanpur.
But instead, they started firing at the police party. In retaliation firing by the CCD team fired two accused, Hasnain and Shah Jahan died, and their three companions escaped.
Police said that the dacoits were involved in several serious criminal activities and were hired assassins.
CCD police shifted the dead bodies to the mortuary and started a search operation to apprehend the culprits.
