KARACHI: Police have failed to arrest a gang involved in robbing citizens in Karachi through fake social media accounts.
According to sources, a gang identified as the Baladi group robbed several innocent people despite registration of cases against the criminals, police failed to arrest them.
Sources further said the public was fooled by advertisements on social media for getting cars and houses on easy and attractive terms, and millions of rupees were taken from the common people through various websites.
The affected citizens have filed more than 80 cases against the fraudulent gang in various police stations; including, 20 cases in Ferozabad police station, 16 in Darakhshan, 15 in Hyderi and 6 in other police stations.
“Nihal is the ringleader of the Baladi gang, which had set up more than five offices in the posh areas of the city,” sources said. After embezzling millions of rupees, the accused closed their offices and fled.
The affected citizens have sought help from the FIA, NAB and other investigative agencies and demanded that their money be returned from the criminals.
The citizens have expressed concerns and said it is a question mark on the performance of Sindh police despite registration of more than 80 cases, the accused are out of the reach of the law.
