LARKANA: Sindh Police on Monday denied the reports regarding the suicide of ASI Asghar Mugheri in Larkana.
According to details, the news of ASI Asghar Maghrebi’s suicide is viral on social media, on which Sindh Assembly member Nusrat Saher Abbasi also rejected the suicide of the police official.
On a socials media website Twitter, Nusrat Saher said “Political leaders of PPP Zulfiqar Jakhrani tortured the ASI in front of the SHO in Larkana”.
She said “ASI Asghar Maghrebi committed suicide after being tortured at the police station. Sadly, this law is dumb, deaf, blind and helpless in front of the leaders of a political party,” she added.

On the other hand, SSP Larkana Masood Ahmed Bangash denied the news and said that the news was being spread on social media that ASI Asghar Ali Maghrebi had committed suicide. “This news is completely false and baseless”, he added.
SHO and a Sub-Inspector Abdul Wahab Misn involved in ASI Asghar Ali Maghri’s case dismissed from services, he added.
Earlier, the Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) had alleged that an influential person severally thrashed him for arresting two people on charges of alcohol possession.
The policeman Asghar Mugheri shared a video with a torn uniform and posted it on social media claiming that he had arrested two people with two bottles of liquor.
“Later, some influential people arrived at the police station and started beating me viciously, and torn my uniform and abused me in front of the SHO Waleed Police Station,” he added.
Referring to the SHO role, he said that instead of taking action against the accused, the station house officer (SHO) has issued his transfer notice to another police station.
“I was performing my duty, but instead of being awarded I was viciously thrashed by influential persons, in front of the SHO,” he said.
Sources revealed PPP local leader Zulfiqar Jakhrani had thrashed ASI Asghar Mugheri but also two arrested men from custody with him after getting them released.
The ASI was transferred after he complained to his high officials about the torture. DIG Larkana has taken notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
