FAISALABAD: Mansoorabad police on Monday arrested a suspected robber in injured condition after an encounter, while three others managed to escape.
Police said four robbers snatched cash amounting to Rs165,000 and motorcycle from a citizen Nadeem Naseer at Kashmir road. Upon receiving information a police team chased the outlaws and encircled them near Circle Club. On which The criminals opened fire at the police team.
During the encounter, one of the dacoits received serious bullet injuries, while his other three accomplices managed to escape from the scene under cover of firing.
The police arrested the injured robber who was later identified as 38-year-old Abdul Shakoor, resident of Shahkot.
The police locked the accused behind the bars and further investigation was underway. Police further said that the robber gang had committed number robberies in different localities.
Police claimed to have recovered weapons and a motorcycle from the suspect’s possession. Raids are being conducted for the other culprits, police said.
